Two Circus School students were invited to perform at the opening of the ten million pound new attraction at the Pleasure Beach “The Nikelodeon” The invitation to Thomas Senior and Daniel Tate Potts follows their success at the Gazette talent contest that took place at the Winter Gardens Blackpool earlier in the year. Britains got talent Judge “David Haesselhoff” opened the new atttraction on the 5th May 2011.
Three of our Circus students took part in a series of Talent contests at the Pleasure beach Globe and Horeshoe bar. All three made the finals for under 16 and over 16s. For the under 16s Thomas Senior took second place with his ball bouncing routine and Danial Tate-Pots was joint 4thwith his Poi routine. A very creditable effort considering the standard of Singers that came 1st 3rd and joint 4th. There was only one place in the over 16s final and James Wade’s juggling act did not win but he impressed with his skills and unusual style of performance. All three can be seen in the following youtube videos and also live at the North Pier, Blackpool on the 24th October in “All hands on deck” a Charity show produced by Tony Jo the ex Grumbleweed and manager of Joe Longthorne.
On Saturday they went on a tour of the Tower Ballroom and Circus with historical notes from Professor Vanessa. Some groups stayed to go up the lift to the Tower top and others made their way to the Pleasure beach. All met after lunch in a large room set aside for them by “Visit Blackpool” in the Olympia of the Winter Gardens. A further workshop on presenting a performance was conducted by Felicity Fernando and there was a general workshop exchange between groups plus visits to the exhibitions in “Showzam central”
All the groups took part in the 2010 “Showzam Parade” The groups participation made this years parade the best to date with Blackpool Circus School, being local, made up the largest group.Organized Kaos from Swansea brought the excitement of fire to the event. See the video.
