About Blackpool Circus School

Blackpool Circus School is a group of Circus Artists and interested local people who are passionate about circus and want Blackpool to have its own Circus School.

Our long term plan is to have our own premises that children, young people and adults can come to learn all sorts of circus skills and learn how to perform them. The current team consists of former Circus Performers, Circus Managers, Teachers, Accountants and Youth Workers.

Trustees

Penelope Miriam Marshall-Kalina LLB (Hons.) LLM (Environmental Law)
A very welcome addition to our board of trustees, Penny is also on various committees of the Grand Theatre Blackpool. This continues our close relationship to the excellent National Theatre of Variety. She also brings her expertise in law to the Circus School ; she is a lecturer in Business law, marketing and human resources at the University of Central Lancashire . She in fact was educated at the University after studying at Elmslie Girls School in Blackpool .

John Topping is the Vice Chairman and is the Deputy Headteacher of Bispham High School Arts College in Blackpool.

Michael Barnfather is an Accountant with his business in Blackpool Town Centre. He is the Circus School Treasurer.

Bryn Mitchell "I have worked in the NHS for the last 25 years, most of the time spent working directly with young people, I have held a management remit for the last 10 years. At the age of 30 I discovered the joys of Circus and have been an audience member and occasional performer since then."

Karen Fishwick is a mother of one of our students and is also membership secretary, she has
been on a number of committees, notably Arnold School, and in the past has worked with young children.  She is also one of our volunteer helpers on Club night and organises the box office and registration.
