November 2004

Blackpool Circus School is proud to announce that Jamie Lee Coldham, one of our star students, has won the Final of Circus Idol at The Tower Circus, Blackpool . Jamie is still only 14 and is a pupil at Beacon High School, Blackpool. Workshops and heats were held throughout 2004, these took place in the ring to find the best young performer of the year. Jamie's prize was an appearance in the Circus show on the final day of the season.  Comments from the Circus staff were that Jamie has a great future in the world of circus.

Blackpool Circus School identified Jamie's promise at an early stage and shall be entering Jamie and other talented students in the Circus youth festival at Blackpool Pleasure Beach in 2005.  All these events and organisations help to sustain Blackpool's reputation as number One for Circus in the UK.

Awards for All
Blackpool Circus School has received special funding so that the Management Committee can work together with local specialists to create this Web Site and links to lots of things to do with Circuses. This funding lasts up to May 2005. If you have any ideas for additions or links that we can add to the web site please contact us

The Local Network Fund for Children and Young People
This fund has provided Blackpool Circus School with sufficient finance to provide Circus Skills opportunities to Blackpool children who are in the care of the Authority. This includes children who have foster parents, or who are in children's homes. The intention is to give as many opportunities starting with holiday workshops and continuing with evening workshops when foster parents can bring their children knowing they will receive the very best of instruction in Circus skills.

We know this gives young people a chance to develop self esteem and personal confidence as well as the discipline necessary for learning.
